Young Living’s Rehemogen is one of their unique tincture supplements. Packed with dozens of ingredients used by Native American culture, Rehemogen detoxifies, purifies, and cleanses the body. It focuses on drawing toxins out of the body and encouraging peristalsis in the gut.
What It’s For
Rehemogen was formulated to cleanse and detoxify the body, more specifically, the gut. It is in the form of a tincture which comes with both upsides and downsides. The positive is that tinctures last a very long time. The negatives are that 1) they taste bad, so tinctures are not recommended for children; they can’t stomach it. Even some adults mix their tincture doses with juice due to the bitter taste. And 2) tinctures contain ethanol, making them unsuitable for anyone under the age of 21 or anyone who struggles with alcoholism or chooses to avoid alcohol.
PRECAUTION: be aware and notice signs of abdominal distress such as craps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc. and discontinue use of Rehemogen immediately.
Rehemogen contains Cascara sagrada, red clover, poke root, prickly ash bark, and burdock root, which have been historically used for their cleansing and building properties.
Cascara helps support normal peristalsis in the gut. Peristalsis is the sequential muscle squeezing that pushes waste materials and gases out of the body. However, Cascara can make the gut lazy. This happens because when cascara supports the peristalsis movement it can send the body into panic mode. The body triggers this panic because if the gut moves everything out too fast it can increase the excretion of water and minerals that are vital to the body. The body’s reaction to this is to send a signal to the gut saying to “stop pushing these good things out!” However, this makes the gut lazy so it stops making this peristalsis movement without a little encouragement from the Cascara; extra encouragement it should not need.
Much like Comfortone, Rehemogen is known to turn the stool black, which can be a concern to those on blood thinners. Black stool can be a sign of internal bleeding, but THAT IS NOT what’s happening when taking Rehemogen. The Cascara in this supplement is a very dark herb and pulls additional toxins into the gut, both of which can turn the stool black.
As for the other ingredients, red clover and poke root both help detoxify the gut.
Rehemogen also includes Young Living essential oils to aid in digestion: Roman chamomile, rosemary, thyme, and melaleuca.
Who Should Take Rehemogen
Rehemogen is great for any adults who are concerned with gut health.
As far as who should not take it, our pregnant ladies should NOT USE any supplement containing cascara because of the increased downward and outward momentum in causes.
Because of the ethanol contained in tinctures, this supplement is also not recommended for anyone under the age of 21. However, some parents choose to use it in children over the age of 12, but this is at your discretion.
Want to pair Rehemogen with an essential oil that supports your digestive system? Adding Digize to your digestive health regimen would make for a great duo.
