I love juicing. I love that fresh juices are such a quick and easy way to inject some serious vitamins and minerals into my routine. These are two of my favorite fresh juices, and I drink them on the regular. Feel free to adapt these to your taste and the fresh, organic produce available in your neighborhood. Be creative with juices – just don’t go too heavy on the fruit because this adds sugar and can lead to blood sugar spikes.
Everyday Green Juice
This green juice is so simple and one I have been making for years. In the morning when you drink it, it feels like a detox ready to happen. Add in lemon juice for a bit of extra punch.
1 medium cucumber
4–6 giant kale leaves, with stems (or mustard greens, collard greens, Lacinato kale, etc.)
3 celery stalks
1 green apple
Optional add-ins: juice of 1/2 lemon, handful of mint (juiced), handful of parsley (juiced)
- Add ingredients one at a time to juicer: cucumber, kale, celery, apple, and optional add-ins.
Lemon-Lime Purple Cabbage Juice
Be sure your pears are fresh, otherwise this juice can become gritty.
1/2 head purple cabbage
1 pear (choose a firm one, such as Anjou, Asian, Comice)
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Juice from 1/2 lime
- Add ingredients one at a time to juicer: carrots, purple cabbage, apple, and pear.
- Finish by adding juice of lemon and lime and stir.
