David M. Crescitelli, commanding officer of the USS Nebraska, was accepted to the United States Naval Academy in 1998, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in oceanography. Commander Crescitelli. Sea tours include commanding officer on the USS Nebraska in Silverdale, Washington, Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Submarine Operations Officer on Commander Carrier Strike Group 9 staff in San Diego, California, Executive Officer on the USS Georgia in Kings Bay, Georgia, navigating operations officer on the USS Pasadena and junior officer on the USS Alabama.

Commander Crescitelli's shore tours include Deputy for Readiness on Commander Submarine Squadron 11 staff in San Diego, California, Submarine Operations Officer on Commander U. S. 3rd Fleet staff, Operations Officer on Commander Submarine Squadron 7 staff, and Student Commander at the Naval Postgraduate School, where he earned a Master's of Science in Information Warfare Systems Engineering.

Commander Crescitelli's personal awards include Meritus Service Medals, Navy Commendation Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Commander Crescitelli is married, has two daughters, and twin sons.
